Description

OptraDam Plus is an anatomically shaped rubber dam for the absolute isolation of the working field. It provides retraction of lips and cheeks during dental treatment and offers the clinician increased visibility and accessibility. In addition, the device facilitates the evacuation of water spray. OptraDam Plus features high flexibility and elasticity in all directions of movement, provides patient comfort and assists in keeping the patient’s mouth open. OptraDam Plus is made of latex and powdered with corn starch. OptraDam Plus is available in regular and small sizes

OptraDam Plus is based on an innovative, three-dimenional technique to establish a completely dry treatment field.

Due to its anatomical shape and flexible, three-dimensional design, OptraDam is completely different from conventional rubber dams. As the dam is automatically stretched in an oral direction, an automatic hold of the device in the oral cavity is ensured. OptraDam is available in the adult sizes “Regular” and “Small”.

INDICATIONS:

  • Direct adhesive restoration of teeth
  • Indirect adhesive luting (e.g. of crowns or partial crowns)
  • Endodontic treatment
  • X-rays (without time-consuming removal and re-insertion)
  • Cosmetic and prophylactic treatment procedures: in-office bleaching, fissure sealing, etc.

Advantages

  • Easy application thanks to the integrated frame and pre-printed arch template

Due to the enhanced flexibility of the plastic rings, OptraDam Plus can be placed more easily in the patient’s mouth. The optimized position of the pre-printed arch template ensures that the dam automatically adapts to the sulcus. Isolation in the gingival region is thus improved. Because of the improved elastic resilience of the latex material, contact points can be overcome easily, which facilitates the isolation procedure.

  • High patient comfort thanks to the flexible, three-dimensional design

Due to the enhanced elasticity of the material, the lips and cheeks are even more gently retracted around the circumference of the mouth. Consequently, OptraDam Plus is now even more comfortable to wear even during lengthy procedures.

  • Simultaneous isolation of both arches thanks to the tension-free placement

Its anatomical shape helps to create a considerably larger treatment field. At the same time complete isolation of both arches is achieved.

Description

OptraGate is a latex-free lip and cheek retractor. The aid’s unique flexibility and elasticity make it comfortable to wear and assist patients to keep their mouth open.

OptraGate retracts the lips and cheeks evenly and gently, allowing more effective, relative isolation of the treatment field. The soft, flexible material adapts to the movements of the mouth in a controlled manner and is comfortable to wear for patients e.g. during the occlusion check or X-ray imaging of the teeth.

The dentist and the dental assistant can better control a clean treatment field because OptraGate allows easy access. Dental mirrors and vacuum are used for retaining the tongue and can thus, be used in a precise and effective manner. In combination with other auxiliary equipment, such as parotid pads or sublingual cotton rolls relative isolation of the treatment field is optimized which results in more efficient and simplified treatment procedures

Indication
  • Suitable for use in diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic dental procedures (in particular restorative procedures, cavity preparation, professional tooth cleaning, diagnostic procedures, scaling & root planing, tooth whitening, impression making).

Composition

Thermoplastic elastomer (SEBS) and polypropylene. OptraGate is latex-free.

Key Specifications

  • OptraGate should be stored at 2–28 °C / 36–82 °F.

Packaging

  • Piece

Direction to Use

  • Step 1:

Select the appropriate size of the OptraGate. The selection of the appropriate size should be guided by the distance between the corners of the mouth when the mouth is in a relaxed position (i.e. with the lips closed or slightly open). In order to obtain sufficient retraction of the oral soft tissues, the diameter of the inner ring should ideally be approx. 2 cm wider than the mouth corner distance. Therefore the following guidelines apply:

– Size Junior: Mouth corner distance = 4.5 cm

– Size Small: Mouth corner distance = 6 cm

– Size Regular: Mouth corner distance = 7 cm

The orientation scale with the respective guide marks imprinted on the foil bag can be used as an aid in the selection of the correct size. It is important not to use a rigid orientation aid for the determination of the mouth corner distance, but to follow the slightly curved course of the lips. In case of doubt, we recommend using the larger size in order to ensure a better fit. The size (R for Regular, S for Small and J for Junior) is indicated on the packaging as well as on the left tab of the OptraGate. In order to ensure optimum function, we recommend inserting the largest possible size that fits the patient’s mouth.

  • Step 2:

OptraGate may be inserted from both the 12 o’clock position with the patient lying down, or from the 8 o’clock position with the patient sitting upright (or, the 4 o’clock position if the clinician is left-handed).

  • Step 3:

To ease placement, with the tabs pointing downward, the operator should grasp the thicker intraoral ring by reaching through the thinner extraoral ring. The inner ring should be held between the thumb and middle finger and pressed together slightly.

  • Step 4:

The slightly compressed intraoral ring is then inserted into the buccal corridor on one side, so that the elastic component embraces the corner of the mouth and the outer ring is still located extraorally

  • Step 5:

As soon as the OptraGate is securely in place on one side, the other side is inserted in the same manner by slightly bending it

  • Step 6:

Subsequently, the intraoral ring is placed behind the lower and upper lips and thus OptraGate assumes its final, stable position. The intraoral ring can be inserted with more ease if the patient’s mouth is relaxed.

If, in individual cases, the intraoral ring should show a tendency to slip out of the gingivobuccal fold if the mouth is closed completely, positioning of the intraoral ring deeper inside the vestibule is usually sufficient to solve the problem. Sometimes, the use of another size may also be a solution. The securely positioned OptraGate improves the overall view and accessibility of the working field. Lateral movements of the mandible and opening of the mouth to various degrees may provide additional space and access to the treatment area. OptraGate may even be left in place when checking occlusion.

  • Step 7:

To remove OptraGate, grasp the extraoral ring in the upper area with the help of a paper towel and pull it slightly downwards so that the intraoral ring is loosened from the upper gingivobuccal fold. The intraoral ring can then be easily removed from the lower gingivobuccal fold and hygienically disposed of using the paper towel.

  • Prepare the cavity according to the requirements of the adhesive technique.
  • Clean the cavity with water spray.
  • Air-dry the cavity.
  • Apply a pulp protector (calcium hydroxide) if needed; only cover areas close to the pulp and subsequently apply a pressure-resistant cement (e.g. Vivaglass Liner).
  • Place a matrix (e.g. the selectively thinned OptraMatrix) and an interdental wedge, if required.
  • Apply Eco-Etch on the enamel and then on dentin and allow a reaction time of 30 seconds on enamel and 15 seconds on dentin. After that, thoroughly rinse with water spray and dry the tooth surfaces with oil-free compressed air. Avoid dehydrating the dentin.
  • Apply a generous amount of Te-Econom Bond on enamel and dentin, using the enclosed applicator brush. Brush the material gently into the dentin for 10 s. Next, evaporate any remaining solvent with a slow stream of air. Lightcure the adhesive according to the curing time recommendations below. Ensure complete coverage of the preparation surface.
  • Apply Te-Econom Flow in layers of a max. of 2 mm and light cure according to the curing recommendations below. Apply Te-Econom Plus in layers of max. 2 mm and adapt/contour the material with a suitable instrument (e.g. OptraSculpt). The OptraContact instrument can be used to selectively position high-quality proximal contacts. Polymerize each layer individually according to the table below. Hold the light emission window as closely as possible to the surface of the restorative material.
  • Finish the restoration with suitable finishers or fine diamonds. Subsequently, check the occlusion. Polish with silicone polishers (e.g. OptraPol Next Generation).

FEATURES:

    • Low shrinkage.
    • Low wear and high strength.
    • Nano color pigment.
    • Polymerisation in 10 seconds.

    Description

The composite restorative Tetric N-Ceram incorporates state-of-the-art nano-hybrid technology.

Tetric N-Ceram from Ivoclar Vivadent is a light-curing, radiopaque dental restorative. It is suitable for the esthethic restoration of teeth in the anterior and posterior region.

Because of the nano-hybrid technology, Tetric N-Ceram features excellent mechanical properties. The prepolymers are responsible for the material’s low shrinkage. Tetric N-Ceram’s high radiopacity of 400 % Al is due to the filler ytterbium fluoride. It considerably facilitates the radiographic detection of secondary caries. Tetric N-Ceram’s nano-optimized formula forms the basis of the material’s low wear and high strength.

    Versatile application and shading options
The nano-modifier contained in Tetric N-Ceram imparts the material with outstanding modelling properties. The material does not stick to instruments. Nano-particles are responsible for the material’s exceptional polishing properties. The integrated nano-colour pigments are characteristic of the technology used in Tetric N-Ceram. Together with the natural translucency of the material, they create a chameleon effect. The nano-colour pigments feature a spherical structure. As they are homogenously distributed in the composite, they are responsible for improving the adjustment of the shade of the restoration to the surrounding natural teeth. As a result, very beautiful restorations are achieved, which are hardly distinguishable from the natural tooth structure. Tetric N-Ceram is available in 16 shades: two dentin shades, ten enamel shades, a highly translucent incisal shade and three bleach shades.

    INDICATIONS:

     – Universal use – for anterior and posterior restorations

    ADVANTAGES:

     – Excellent radiopacity– Good polishability – Nano-fillers complete the finely tuned filler technology – Nano-colour pigments are responsible for the material’s unique chameleon effect – The nano-modifier ensures optimum stability and excellent  sculptability – The material does not stick to the instru

Total Etch is an etching gel containing 37% phosphoric acid. Total Etch is used for enamel etching and dentin conditioning in conjunction with sealants, composite restorations and the adhesive luting of indirect all-ceramic or composite restorations.

    Indications

Total Etch is used in the enamel etch or total etch technique for the following indications:

    • Composite restorations
    • Adhesive luting of inlays, crowns, bridges, veneers, adhesive bridges and root canal posts
    • Splints
    • Luting of orthodontic appliances (e.g. brackets) and bonding of tooth jewellery (e.g. Skyce)
    • Fissure sealings

    Advantages

    Consistent viscosity

The viscosity of etching gels may be impaired when they are pressed through the tight nozzle of the dispensing tip. Conventional products often become runny and difficult to apply accurately. The gel flows into the cavity uncontrolled. Due to special filler composition, Total Etch has an ideal and above all consistent thickness that enables it to be applied quickly and effectively.

    Distinct blue colour

The blue colour provides a strong contrast to the tooth and allows the gel to be applied accurately. Residue is easy to recognize after rinsing, therefore, minimizing the risk of over-etching.

    Easy handling

    • Octagonal finger rest facilitates application and prevents syringe from rolling away
    • Angled metal tip for exact application
    • Special displacer to prevent material from being wasted

    Efficient and economical use

The convenient Jumbo syringe, which is used to refill syringes, offers a cost-effective solution for keeping adequate amounts of gel in stock. Thanks to the Luer Lock system, the tip can be securely attached and a tight connection to the Jumbo syringe is ensured.

Innovative and user-friendly – The new VivaPen

    • The optimized VivaPen with the new design, improved ergonomic features and integrated fill-level indicator.
    • The novel snap-on cannula is attached to the VivaPen.
    • The new VivaPen features an easy-tooperate click mechanism. A few clicks are sufficient to saturate the brush tip with an appropriate amount of material. The discoloration of the tip shows that it has been saturated with adhesive.
    • Even the fill-level of the VivaPen can now be visually checked. As a result, the user has consistent control over the availability of material.
  • Direction to Use
  • Direct restorations
    • Step 1: A dry operating field must be ensured. Ideally, a rubber dam should be placed (e.g. OptraDam Plus).
    • Step 2: In very deep cavities, areas close to the pulp should be selectively coated with a calcium hydroxide liner (e.g. ApexCal) and subsequently covered with a pressure-resistant cement (glass ionomer cement, e.g. Vivaglass Liner).
    • Step 3: Apply phosphoric acid gel (e.g. Total Etch) to the prepared enamel and then flow the etchant onto the prepared dentin. The etchant should be left to react on the enamel for 15–30 seconds and on the dentin for 10–15 seconds. Following this, remove all etchant gel with a vigorous water spray for at least 5 seconds. Excess moisture should be removed leaving the dentin surface with a glossy wet appearance (wet bonding). This can be done with either an air gun, a dry brush, a foam pellet or other lint-free absorbents. Do not overdry the dentin.
    • Step 4: Use of the different delivery forms ExciTE F is available in bottles, the VivaPen and Soft Touch SingleDose vessels.

    VivaPen delivery form

    • Remove the cap of the VivaPen by turning it beyond the point of resistance and simultaneously pulling it off.
    • Snap on the VivaPen brush cannula. The brush cannula can be rotated up to approx. 270 degrees to the desired position.

Attention: Do not rotate the cannula beyond the point of resistance; otherwise it will detach.

    • Activate the click mechanism several times to saturate the VivaPen brush cannula with ExciTE F. The yellow colour of ExciTE F becomes visible once the brush cannula is saturated.

Soft Touch Single-Dose vessel with pre-mounted applicator brush

    • Place the Single-Dose vessel on a firm surface.
    • Press the pre-mounted applicator brush into the Single-Dose vessel until a noticeable resistance is overcome.

Step 6: Disperse ExciTE F to a thin layer with a weak stream of air, thereby removing any excess. Pooling should be avoided. A uniform, glossy appearance shows that the tooth surface is completely sealed. Step 8: Apply the restorative material (e.g. Tetric EvoFlow® or Tetric EvoCeram®) according to the instructions of the manufacturer.Indirect restorationsStep 2: Prepare the tooth surfaces according to the procedure indicated for direct restorations, step 1–7. Important note: Avoid pooling, as this can compromise the accuracy of fit of the definitive restoration.

  • Step 3: Following this, seat the restoration using a light-/ dual-curing luting material (e.g. Variolink II) and light-cure according to the instruction of the manufacturer
  • Step 1: Prepare the surfaces of the composite or ceramic restoration according to the instructions of the manufacturer.
  • Step 9: VivaPen: Discard the used VivaPen brush cannula after disinfecting the VivaPen with disinfectant wipes and replace it with the original cap. The VivaPen brush cannula is removed by turning it beyond the point of resistance and simultaneously pulling it off. A new VivaPen brush cannula must be attached for every application.
  • Step 7: Light-cure ExciTE F for 10 seconds at a light intensity of more than 500 mW/cm2 (with e.g. Bluephase® using the LOP mode).
  • Step 5: Saturate enamel and dentin with a generous amount of ExciTE F and agitate the adhesive on the prepared surfaces for at least 10 seconds. Make sure that all the cavity walls are completely covered.
  • Activate the Soft Touch Single-Dose vessel to prepare it for use as follows:
